I've given it whacks with a hammer. I've tried spinning it with a crescent wrench, but the surfaces are starting to round. I've tried prying it out with a "pickle-fork". No-go!. You will face various handling issues when the bar links become loose. The tires can't generate adequate traction on the ground and you cannot turn the car properly because the steering wheel is acting up. A high amount of dirt or rust in the system can also cause this trouble. However, you should check the sway bar links and bushings too. I suspect it won't. Something that might just get you by is to put some tension on the threads. Instead of using a wrench to hold the bolt, get a pry bar and pry in between the strut and the sway bar end. Go at an angle a bit and try to bind the bolt against the strut. You might be able to expose a couple of more threads.
